Sailing School

In 2025  the Port Stanley Sailing Squadron is continuing to run their own sailing school!

The PSSS Sailing school is an active hands-on program.  Much of the instruction happens in Quba sailing dinghies. Completing and submitting this form is the first step in registering for the PSSS Sailing School for July 2025. The second step is to pay the full fee up front once notified in March of 2025. Acceptance of the full fee can be considered confirmation of registration although a follow up email will also be sent at a later date. More details about fee payments are in the notes at the end of the survey.

In 2025 there is one week worth of youth sailing offered in Port Stanley: (currently slated for July 21-25)  from 9 am to 4 pm. We recommend the youth sailing program for 10 to 14 year olds but we may consider taking 9 year olds. It takes about 2+ weeks of instruction to move up a level in the CanSail standards. The instructor in 2025 will be able to offer certification for “I Can Sail” – an introductory certificate, OR CanSail 1 in certain circumstances. Students can achieve the ‘I Can Sail’ level in one week. The cost of the youth program is $450 per week per student. We ask that the payment is made up front. We expect 10-16 youth spots.

Please note that after 2 years in the PSSS sailing school, youth participants would have plenty of experience in all the planned lessons. Therefore, it is recommended that students not register for a third year.

There is also an evening adult sailing program that will be offered. The adult program consists of 4 three-hour sessions on Monday to Thursday of the same week. The sessions are slated to happen from 5:30 to 8:30. The cost of the adult program is $300. Participants in the adult program would need to be flexible enough to operate comfortably in a 3.5 metre dinghy.
