Dear Former PSSS Full Members.
In an effort to clarify club liabilities, the PSSS is trying to contact former members or their families to see if any former members are owed a work deposit refund. We expect that there are no former full members awaiting a work deposit refund but part of our refund records are incomplete.
Here is a bit of background information:
All full members were expected to pay a work hours deposit upon entry to full membership. The standard deposit amount was and is $250. The deposit that would be used by the club if the expected number of mandatory work hours for that member were not completed. The $250 would be refunded back to the member once the member left full membership status if their work hours account was in good standing.
What to do if you believe that you are owed money from your work hours deposit:
- Contact PSSS through email. Use the Contact Us tab on the website or send it to secretary@portstanleysailingsquadron.com . Contact us as soon as possible. We expect to clarify this liability by the end of September 2025. We hope to receive all claims by September 1st.
- Describe some details about why you firmly believe that the work hours deposit was never refunded. Some sort of confirming receipt or email would really be supportive in any documentation but a clear written description of your timeline for leaving full membership and a description of people you talked to about reducing your full member status should suffice.
- Wait for a reply. We will check our records with your added information. We hope to reply to all inquiries by the end of September 2025. If you do not receive a reply by the end of September 2025, then please reach out to the email again or contact someone you know who is still a PSSS member.
Alternatively, you may reply to secretary@portstanleysailingsquadron.com and offer any liability still owed to you as an informal legacy gift for the club. Many other members have done this and this gesture would be truly appreciated. Please note that this informal legacy gift is not an expectation. We are happy to make the refund if and when needed.
